best hubby ever

So I have the best husband ever... I haven't been sleeping well lately, so I decided to take a nap after church. Joe called me and woke me up from my nap (I didn't even know he wasn't in our apt) and said that he went to get groceries and needed my help bringing them in if I could come downstairs and help him. So I went out to his car, and SURPRISE! he got me a new Schwinn bike! I love it. I had an amazing bike in college and it was stolen, so now I finally have a bike again to ride. We took a couple of bike rides today and are looking forward to finding some new bike paths to ride on :o)

Mom and Dad came to town yesterday and went to the outlet malls with us, for dinner and to church. It was great to see them. Its so nice that they are close enough to buzz in for the evening :o) Its been a good weekend.

Now if only I could sleep, work will come early tomorrow morning!!

the countdown has begun...

The count down has really begun!  The picture above is from my Naperville shower out our church there.  My mom and dad came down to be there which was great.  Below is my whole family after my graduation from my Master's program at Aurora University.

Reality is starting to set in.  My wedding is only 26 days away now!  Time really flies!  I am in Rockford now, living mostly at home for this last month, but I am driving back to Aurora about once a week cause Joe and I are finishing our marriage counseling and leading small groups.  Wednesdays I'm taking my Social Work License test, so I have been studying a lot for that and applying for jobs.  Everything seems to be happening at once, I know it will all come together, its just a little hectic right now.  Mom is done with school on Wednesday and that is when I'll take my test, so once we get through that we can both enjoy finishing up wedding plans.  I just want to enjoy this last month and not feel overwhelmed.  Hopefully that will be the case :o)

Looking forward to seeing our friends and family at the Wedding...26 days :o)

Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week....

So last week was definitely not one of my favorites.  It all started Monday, on my way to work, I was turning left on a green arrow, and a guy ran a red light and hit me, spun me around a couple times, and totaled my car!!  It was devastating!  My airbags went off, my car was like smoking, and I am very bruised now!!  To make matters worse, the guy was denying that he had a red light, and was going to fight us.  So his insurance got involved and luckily we had other witnesses there, so his insurance finally did claim liability, but now I'm waiting to hear what I'll get for my car.

I went to the doctor, luckily no broken bones, just a sprained neck and some really bad bruising, but now I have to deal with his insurance company more to figure out the medical bills, and I have no car still.  Joe drove me around some, but it was quite difficult to get to school and work... so tomorrow I am finally at least going to have a rental car.

This weekend was much better though.  Joe and I went home and had a lot of fun with our family.  It was really nice to get my mind off of school and the accident.  And hopefully this week will be better!  It is a busy one.  Joe is moving into our future apartment on Friday and I have lots to do for school and a bridal shower to attend for one of my bridesmaids this weekend.  Busy Busy...  the sermon at church today reminded me though of God's power and I need to leave my worries in His hands... I guess I need to relax a little and take one day at a time, and hopefully everything will come together.

This picture is from our "Easter Luau" we through at the Davitt household...the four of us, John, Kelsey, Me and Joe went to the dollar store and found these amazing decorations and decided we had to have a surprise Luau for my parents Saturday night... they were very surprised and we had a blast :o) Family has a way of making the rough times better!

Iowa Bridal Shower

This past weekend was my 2nd Bridal Shower, and it was in Iowa with my mom's side of the family.  My cousin Mike happens to be getting married this spring as well, so his fiance and I had a double bridal shower together, and it was thrown by my mom and my aunt.  The weekend didn't quite work out as planned... my mom was in charge of all the food, and she ended up getting the stomach flu once we got to Iowa, so that made everything a little bit different.  Then there was also a funeral the same day for my Aunt's family so everything was a little chaotic, but thanks to my great cousins Kelli and Kathy and Aunt Ann, everything turned out just great.  It was very sad not having my mom there though for my shower.  I got some wonderful gifts though and I can't wait to put them to use in our apartment!  Joe moves into the apartment in April, so my shower gifts can at least move to our new place then and wait for me to move in June :o)

new home...

Joe and I found a new apartment today and Joe just signed on it, so he will be moving in April to the apartment and then I will move in after the wedding.  I can't wait.  It is beautiful and a 2 bed/2 bath.. so lots of room for us!  I am looking forward to entertaining at our new place!

My first bridal shower....

At dinner after my first bridal shower.
with my mom
With some of my bridesmaids, Becca, Becky and Carrie (Joe's sister)
Family: Carrie and Cheryl (Joe's sister and mom), Me and Mom

This weekend was a busy one!!  I ended up going back to Rockford on Thursday night, and Joe's sister came to Rockford on Friday afternoon.  We went then to the florist and ordered our invitations as well before Joe and his mom came to town for dinner with us.  John and Dad left for Florida then at 4:30 a.m. that morning, and the girls went to my first bridal shower on Saturday at 12 p.m.  We had such a fun time and I got so many beautiful gifts.  It makes everything seem so real!  I am getting married so soon!

Joe's dad then flew in from Michigan Saturday afternoon and we went out for dinner Saturday night which was very nice.  Today, Joe's family left, and Joe, Mom and I went out for a nice brunch and moved all my gifts up to my room for me to organize :o)  It was really nice.  I am exhausted from all of the weekend festivities, but had such a great time!  The big day will be here before we know it!!  I can't wait.  Next shower...2 weeks in Iowa :o)

This week is technically my spring break, although I still have my internship and lots of homework to work on...I guess in a master's degree program there really is no such thing as a spring break!  I just can't wait to be done :o)  Every week is busy!  Joe and I are going apartment shopping this coming weekend...always more decisions to make!
